Ethics Reform
The 19th District mandate is clear: clean up Springfield politics.
Lindsey is part of a growing movement of legislators to embrace and champion meaningful ethics reform with the ultimate goal to restore trust in state government and politics. Lindsey believes that the status quo has left too many neighbors distrustful and subsequently unengaged.
In the summer of 2020, Lindsey was one of the first democrats in the Illinois House to publicly call for former Speaker Michael Madigan to resign and was proud to vote for new leadership in 2021 and legislative leadership term limits.
She backed tougher regulation preventing legislators from lobbying other government officials, slowing down legislators becoming lobbyists once they retire, requiring legislators to disclose outside income and connections, putting term limits on legislative leadership, and strengthening independent investigatory powers by the Legislative Inspector General.
Lindsey will ensure all elected officials in Springfield are held accountable to higher standards of ethical conduct.
